A group of beautiful young people - students of Mažeikiai Kalnėnai pro-gymnasium, Joniškis "Saulė" primary school, Šiauliai "Santarvė", Saulėtekios gymnasium and Šiauliai Rėkyva, Gytarii, V. Kudirka pro-gymnasiums - participate in a project financed by the Lithuanian Culture Council and Šiauliai City Municipality, implemented by the public library of Šiauliai City Municipality "All under one sun", intended to contribute to the smoother integration and socialization of Ukrainian schoolchildren in Lithuania, to develop creative self-expression and potential by participating in creative activities with professional creators. The project partner is the Ukrainian integration center "Malva".
The war started by Russia in Ukraine is still going on, Ukrainian children have to plan their future in Lithuania, and Lithuanians have to support their peers who have been crushed by the war. How to find friends? Why is it important to open up to a new culture and be able to present your own? How to communicate with a child who has lost his homeland? The initiators and executors of the project helped the students to explore these and other questions, because the project aimed at the following goals: to contribute to the smoother integration and socialization of Ukrainian schoolchildren in Lithuania; promote their cultural communication, cooperation between students and teachers; develop creative self-expression and potential by participating in creative and educational activities with professional creators; meet cognitive and educational needs.
December 7 The final event was held in the "Saulė" branch of the public library of Šiauliai city municipality. While welcoming the gathered, the director of this library, Irena Žilinskienė, drew attention to the importance of the project - building a bridge of friendship between Ukrainians and Lithuanians. I. Žilinskienė thanked the organizers, partners and participants of the project. Project manager Rita Božienė presented the activities and results.
September 19 schoolchildren met with the resistance in 2014 at the "Saulė" branch of the public library of Šiauliai city municipality. for the Russian annexation of Crimea, Luhansk and Donbas by veteran and writer Oleksandr Tereshchenko. Meetings with the writer Ilona Ežerinyte took place in Mažeikiai, Joniškii and Šiauliai. Students participated in musical karaoke education with Ukrainian actress and singer Olena Lastivka - beautiful and indelible memories of how cool it was sung in Ukrainian! The students also liked the educational activity "Creation strengthens friendship" and the intellectual battle "From Ukraine to Lithuania". In the theatrical training "Writing letters is cool!" with Šiauliai Art School's children and youth theater studio "Kompania šauni", students from Šiauliai, Joniškis and Mažeikiai were invited to write letters to each other and in this way establish friendships and find pen pals. The 2024 calendar "All under one sun" was compiled on the basis of students' letters.
"We thank everyone who contributes and works to ensure that the integration of young Ukrainians goes smoothly and that there are as many such projects as possible," said Žana Tolstykova, a member of the Ukrainian integration center "Malva" team.
