Street Music Day in Mažeikiai will take place on May 16 from 12 noon on Laisvės Street. The organizers invite you not only to listen, but also to get involved yourself - to become a part of this celebration. The event is open to all creators - not only musicians, but also dancers, actors, and others who want to perform can participate.
The tradition of GMD in Lithuania began in 2007, when the author of the idea, musician Andrius Mamontovas, invited people to come out and play on the streets of Vilnius. Over the course of almost two decades, this initiative has grown into an international festival, bringing together thousands of participants in different cities every year.
GMD is a day when in various Lithuanian and foreign cities everyone who wants to comes out to play on the streets, squares or squares. On that day, the cities are filled with live music, and listeners can hear a variety of styles - from metal to sutartinės.
The celebration traditionally takes place on the third Saturday of May. This year's theme is "Birthday".
