This event is part of the 7th international festival "Iron History of Daubariu".
The sword is more than a weapon. It is one of the most powerful symbols that has survived to this day, speaking of justice, determination, responsibility and action. It reminds us of the moment when doubt is replaced by decision, and words by action.
The exhibition presents a collection of restored swords, created using experimental archaeology methods. The aim is to recreate as accurately as possible the technologies, forms and materials used by the old masters, while at the same time looking at the sword not only as a historical artifact, but also as a symbol of culture and identity.
The collection was created by:
sword – Adam Sviklas;
scabbard and handles – Vykintas Motuza;
The jewelry part of the Taurapilis sword was made by Evaldas Babenskas.
The material prepared for the exhibition was part of archaeologist Andrius Janionis' doctoral dissertation, dedicated to swords found in Lithuania in the 5th–15th centuries.
