The Mažeikiai Museum and the Lithuanian Maritime Museum kindly invite you to the opening of the exclusive mobile exhibition "The Sword of a Lithuanian Naval Officer: A Thread of Tradition" , which will take place on September 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mažeikiai Museum (V. Burbos g. 9) .
A sword in the hands of a naval officer is a profound symbol of honor, loyalty to the Motherland, and representation of the state. This exhibition is an excellent, living history lesson that helps students better understand the interwar formation of Lithuanian statehood, the first maritime traditions, and the history of our country's naval forces from the 19th century to the present day.
AT THE EXHIBITION:
- Unique exhibits: You will see not only Lithuanian, but also French or distant Japanese officer weapons, decorated with exclusive national and maritime symbolism.
- Living history: The exhibition presents a model of the legendary warship "President Smetona" and the dramatic story of the preservation of its flag.
- Multimedia experiences: The exhibition is complemented by authentic audio recordings (crew prayer), videos of weapons presentation ceremonies, and an interactive photo booth.
