Sculpture “The First School”
More than two-meters-high sculpture with a laconic composition stands in the square of Mažeikiai Old Town. It depicts a woman with a clear silhouette, who is holding a child on her shoulders. The polished granite sculpture is placed on stone plinth. The artwork was created in two months in 1983 during the republican symposium held in Seda Town by Kęstutis Musteikis – the professional sculptor and member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. The author himself named his work “The First School”, emphasising the fact that for a child it is the mother who is the most important educator of the environment, nature, and life.
