Monument to Šatrijos Ragana
In Mažeikiai Old Town Park, a 2.10 m high styled monument was built on a hill made specially of pink polished granite. The monument was created to honour the memory of Marija Pečkauskaitė (Šatrijos Ragana), a writer, pedagogue, charity provider, educator, philanthropist who lived in Židikai Town between 1915 and 1930. On the back side, in the lower part of the bust, a signature with the inscription “1984 / TO ŠATRIJOS RAGANA” is engraved. The author of the structure is sculptor Jonas Meškelevičius (1950–2005), member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association.
On 30 September 1993, the monument was entered into the Register of Cultural Property of the Republic of Lithuania as a significant object of artistic and memorial value.
